About 100 native and non-native people have peacefully marched from the First Nations University to the legislature grounds in Regina to mark the national aboriginal Day of Action.
Premier Lorne Calvert and Federation of Saskatchewan Indian Nations Chief Lawrence Joseph were among those who made the trek.
Joseph says the march is a good opportunity to peacefully draw attention to the struggles First Nations people face with poverty and substandard living conditions.
He says he hopes the message will not be lost in the anger generated by more disruptive protests in other parts of Canada.
