The Federation of Saskatchewan Indian Nations has been given conditional approval to build a new casino in Swift Current.
Premier Lorne Calvert made the announcement this morning at the FSIN’s fall assembly, which is taking place in the city this week.
The new gaming centre will be built adjacent to the Trans-Canada Highway and is expected to create more than 300 jobs.
Residents of Swift Current voted in favour of a new casino during last fall’s municipal elections.
The new casino will be the sixth native-owned casino in the province, including a proposed facility near Saskatoon that was just given conditional approval in August.
