FSIN Exploring Nuclear Waste Storage Potential

The chief of the Federation of Saskatchewan Indian Nations says talks are still very preliminary, but the FSIN is exploring opportunities with a nuclear waste storage group.

Chief Lawrence Joseph says the federation is working with the Nuclear Waste Management Organization to find out what would be involved if a community were to store nuclear waste.

Joseph says, normally, First Nations are notified after a decision is made — rather than being involved.

He says, this time, First Nations people will look into their options ahead of time and then make a decision.
