The Federation of Saskatchewan Indian Nations and Saskatchewan Research Council have signed an agreement related to environmentally-sustainable project development.

The memorandum of understanding was signed today at the ongoing FSIN-sponsored sustainable development conference in Saskatoon.

The two groups are hoping a cooperative relationship will encourage the development of projects and actions that will not only improve the lives of First Nations people, but will also accomplish this in an environmentally-sustainable manner.

The FSIN has identified key areas of concern where this agreement could help, including sustainable forestry and mining, water quality, climate change and biodiversity.
