A vice-chief with the Federation of Saskatchewan Indian Nations says he welcomes news that the federal government plans on implementing a new and improved land claims process.

However, Glen Pratt wishes more money was being included the deal.

Pratt says $250 million over 10 years might not be enough for the entire country.

Saskatchewan currently has 92 unresolved specific claims and Pratt says many of them are significant.

Pratt also wants to know how the government will go about appointing people to sit on the new land claims tribunal.

He feels the selection process should be open to the public.

Pratt also wants to know what kind of appeals mechanism will be in place.

He says if one isn’t found, more court cases are bound to happen.
