The chief of the Federation of Saskatchewan Indian Nations says he worries too much misinformation is going out in regards to the date compensation will be paid out to residential school survivors.
Lawrence Joseph contends media coverage of Tony Merchant’s dispute with the federal government over the length of time it’s taking to get cheques sent out is confusing some people.
In particular, the chief says Merchant is making it sound like money should and could be flowing before the scheduled date of September 19th.
Joseph feels false hopes are being raised and Merchant should tone down his language.
The chief adds Merchant is operating on his own in this matter, and he feels and it’s disrupting the process.
