FSIN Chief Attacks Taxpayers’ Federation

The Saskatchewan director of the Canadian Taxpayers Federation says if FSIN chief Lawrence Joseph is calling him a liar — he had better have the facts to back that up.
David MacLean is reacting to comments made by Joseph yesterday at the SUMA convention in Saskatoon.
Joseph accused MacLean and his group of “spreading lies” about urban reserves.
MacLean argues the tax-free reserves give First Nations businesses an unfair advantage over their non-Native counterparts.
He also says the taxpayers’ federation supports Aboriginal economic development — as long as there is a level playing field between Native and non-Native businesses.
The taxpayers’ federation has stepped up its public opposition to urban reserves in recent weeks — mainly because the Piapot First Nation is in the process of establishing one in Regina.
Joseph has not been immediately available for comment.
