FSIN Chief Lawrence Joseph used his organization’s legislative assembly this week as an opportunity to lash out at the Congress of Aboriginal Peoples.

Joseph called CAP’s leader, Patrick Brazeau, a “helper” of the Conservative government.

He also called Brazeau a “triggerman” on behalf of the government, “to do the things the government is sometimes unwilling to do”.

Joseph said Brazeau’s only mandate is to criticize First Nations leadership and treaties.

The FSIN chief noted Prime Minister Stephen Harper attended the CAP national gathering in Halifax — and said delegates were told they were the “spokespeople for the forgotten people”.

Joseph is challenging the federal government to attend a national treaty conference to be held in Saskatoon in March.

Joseph says the Tories should talk to the “real Aboriginal leaders” who are accountable to the people.
