Friendship Centre Forced To Close Homeless Shelter

A lack of funding has forced a shelter for homeless men in Prince Albert to close down.
The Prince Albert Indian and Metis Friendship Centre had just re-opened its men’s lodge in June, but wasn’t able to find the resource dollars needed to keep it open.
Executive director Rose Henry says the closure couldn’t come at a worse time, as the cold weather is now starting to set in.
The men’s lodge could accommodate as many as 18 men a night with the help of six staff.
Layoffs have already been given and the men who were staying there have been told to go.
Henry says they will continue to try and find government dollars to help them re-open the shelter.
