A judge in Regina will hear an appeal by a mining company that is looking for diamonds in the Fort a’la Corne area.

The appeal was launched by Shore Gold after a ruling on March 1st, 2007 gave rival company Star Uranium the right to register 25 blocks of land in the area.

The claims cover 33,000 hectares.

Star Uranium president Eric Wray says the dispute arose during staking about three or four years ago.

Wray says his company has been awarded the rights to the land twice — and both times Shore Gold has chosen to fight the ruling.

Since Shore Gold’s most recent appeal, Star Uranium has been unable to carry out any exploration on the land.

The appeal will be heard by the Saskatchewan Court of Appeal on February 11th.
