A search for diamonds near the boundaries of the James Smith First Nation continues on schedule says the President of a mining company.

Ken Macneill of Shore Gold says a pre-feasibility study should be complete by late 2007, with construction possibly set for 2009.

Macneill expects the mine will use huge volumes of water once it gets going. However, he believes present ground-water supplies in the area will be enough for it to operate.

Macneill says his company has been able to do its exploration work so far without tapping into the nearby Saskatchewan River.
