Former Sturgeon Lake Chief Back In Power

For the first time in several months, the Sturgeon Lake First Nation has an elected chief in office — and it’s a familiar face.
Wesley Daniels is back in charge after defeating fellow candidates Sandra Felix and Solomon Sanderson in Friday’s band election.
Daniels previously served as chief of the band about six years ago.
He takes over from former chief Henry Daniels, who relinquished his duties about a year ago because of illness.
Councillor Craig Bighead served as the acting chief in the interim, and was re-elected to council. He will be joined by fellow incumbents Donna Kingfisher and Jonas Sanderson, and newcomers Barry Kingfisher, Laurie Whiteman and Velmar Ermine.
All were elected to three-year terms.
