The Northern Health Strategy has a new addition.

Carol Gillis recently left her job as CEO of the Keewatin Yatthe Regional Health Authority, and will now join the NHS in building solutions to common health challenges in northern health regions.

NHS coordinator Nap Gardiner notes he has had a long-standing relationship with Gillis in the health field, and he is sure that she is the right person for the job.

Gardiner believes that her past experiences will prepare her for the new challenges that she will face.

Gillis will mainly be concentrating on chronic disease management, and helping build the Northern Chronic Care Coalition.

The coalition intends to reach out to health providers to deal with the growing concern of chronic diseases in northern communities.

Gardiner says Gillis’ ties to Buffalo Narrows give her a greater understanding of the issues facing northern people.
