Former Cumberland House mayor Dale McAuley is facing an assault charge.

The former chair of New North is accused of assaulting current mayor Andy McKay outside the arena in Cumberland House on February 21st.

McAuley served several years on the village council before losing to McKay in last fall’s municipal election.

McAuley made his first court appearance on the matter yesterday in Cumberland House.

The case has been adjourned to June 26th, at which time the pursuit of alternative measures will be discussed.
