Two witnesses have taken the stand so far in the trial of a Flin Flon man accused of sexually assaulting an underage youth in Prince Albert.

54 year-old James Michael Bomek limped into court this morning wearing a rumpled green shirt. He sat beside his defense attorney throughout the proceedings, at times whispering advice into the ears of his lawyer.

Bomek is accused of possessing and creating child pornography, inviting someone under the age of 14 to touch him as well as sexual assault.

Court heard testimony from one of the officers behind the arrest, who said they found naked pictures of underage youth in his apartment, as well as diaries chronicling sexual activity. Later, the officer read some of the material out loud.

Bomek’s lawyer then asked the officer if any of the photographs depicted violence or force used by his client. The officer replied no.

The lawyer then asked if any of the persons photographed in the pictures had laid any complaints of sexual assault against his client. Again, the officer replied no.

This isn’t the first time Bomek has found himself before the courts on sex-related matters. Three years ago, he pleaded guilty to nine counts of sexual assault in Northern Saskatchewan.

The trial is expected to continue throughout the rest of today and tomorrow.
