A Prince Albert court heard more testimony today about a sexual assault that allegedly took place at the La Ronge RCMP detachment two years ago.
Ron Brown, a former guard at the facility, testified he found the female plaintiff naked in her cell and intoxicated the night the alleged incident occurred.
Brown said he gave the woman a cigarette in exchange for her putting her clothes back on. He testified he knew it was against the rules, but he lit it up for her anyway.
Brown said Cst. Thierry Jacques, the officer accused in the incident, then asked him for a cigarette, as well.
Brown testified Jacques then took the woman out to the parking garage, adding they were only gone for a few minutes.
Brown said he then heard a cell door slam, then Jacques came out to him and said, “If I go down, you’re going down with me.”
He testified Jacques then left, and Brown went to check on the woman. Brown said she was fully clothed, wanting another cigarette.
He also testified he took some of the woman’s clothing home and washed it. According to Brown, sometime after that, the woman phoned him up asking for the clothes and then dropped by his residence. Brown said she stayed with him for two or three days before he asked her to leave.
Under cross-examination, Brown was asked by Jacques’ defence lawyer why he never reported these events to an officer investigating the incident.
He was also asked why he never wrote down the fact he found her naked in the jail’s log book.
Both times Brown said he feared for his job.
