A man who served on the executive of the Federation of Saskatchewan Indian Nations several years ago has declared his bid to run for the organization’s Third Vice-Chief position.

Wayne Ahenakew is currently the health director at the Ahtahkakoop First Nation.

Ahenakew, who has a 20-year history with the FSIN, says he is back in politics because he has some concerns with the way the FSIN has been lobbying the government over the Kelowna Accord and the treaties.

Ahenakew is running for a position currently held by Delbert Wapass. Wapass has announced he will be running for FSIN chief this fall.

The FSIN elections will take place in October.
