Former Chief Throws Support Behind Conservative MP

Desnethe-Missinippi-Churchill River Member of Parliament Jeremy Harrison’s election campaign has just received a significant boost.
Former Lac La Ronge Indian Band Chief Harry Cook is publicly endorsing the Conservative MP in his bid for re-election.
Cook says he’s been impressed with Harrison’s work in Ottawa over the past year-and-a-half, particularly on issues like the residential schools and Aboriginal war veterans.
Cook calls Harrison a sincere, young man who he feels can make a difference for residents of the northern Saskatchewan riding.
Cook also says during election campaigns, he puts more stock in the candidates themselves — rather than the parties they represent.
Cook’s support of Harrison is a blow for fellow candidates Gary Merasty of the Liberals and Anita Jackson of the NDP, in a race where the Aboriginal vote will be crucial.
