A former Clearwater River Dene Nation band councillor has been given jail time for a hit-and-run this past winter.
In La Loche Provincial Court on Monday, Gerald Hainault was sentenced to three months in custody, followed by 12 months of probation.
Hainault was convicted of several charges stemming from a December 2006 hit-and-run collision in the community — when he was still on the band council.
Hainault was found to be intoxicated at the time of the incident, as well.
He also faced a number of breach of undertaking charges from an earlier case.
