The Provincial Government’s Forestry Secretariat says bright signs are emerging in the forestry sector despite recent turmoil in the industry.

Kent Campbell says he’s optimistic the recent spike in pulp prices could help fuel the push to re-open the Prince Albert Pulp and Paper Mill.

Campbell says the situation is a complex one, but higher prices could help offset trouble spots elsewhere.

Campbell adds forestry-giant Domtar still hasn’t indicated whether it wants to re-open the Prince Albert mill.

But he has heard word the company is examining whether it’s feasible to run it themselves which he feels is a good sign.
