A couple of firefighters battling a blaze north of La Ronge were slightly injured yesterday.

According to Saskatchewan Environment spokesman Art Jones, the incident took place at around 5:00 pm on the southwest side of the English fire.

The two men were hurt while trying to rescue a female pump operator who appeared to be in the path of some oncoming flames.

She wasn’t injured, but one of the men suffered burns to his knee and elbow, while the other man received smoke inhalation.

Both were treated in hospital and released.

At last word, both men were back at the base camp and ready to be deployed back on the fire line.
