Fond du Lac Residents Go To The Polls

Today is Election Day in Fond du Lac.

Seven candidates are running for chief, including incumbent Allan Adam.

He is being challenged by Victor Fern, Joe Martin, Diane McDonald, Adolphus Mercredi, Albert Mercredi and Alex Mercredi.

Fond du Lac is one of the few First Nations that insists its chief be elected by a majority of band members.

That’s why the first round of voting will end at 3:00 pm today, in order to allow time for subsequent ballots.
