A man who was just 17 years of age when he stabbed his friend to death in Fond du Lac has had his sentence nearly doubled by the Saskatchewan Court of Appeal.

On July 22, 2006, he was chased from his 15-year-old friend’s house with a bat — so he returned with a knife and, after a fight, stabbed the younger teen three times in the back.

He eventually pleaded guilty to manslaughter, was sentenced as an adult, and originally received a sentence of two years less a day.

This week, the appeal court changed the sentence to five years.
