Students at the First Nations University of Canada marched through the halls of the First Nations University and University of Regina today.

They are raising awareness about education as a treaty right.

The students marched to INAC offices and presented a letter addressed to the Minister of Indian and Northern Affairs.

Organizers say the letter is demanding the government remove the two per cent funding cap, and give every First Nations student who is interested the money to attend a post-secondary institution.

Justin Delorme, a member of the Kahkewistahaw First Nation, says he’s supporting those students who are denied funding from their bands.

“I’m here to support everybody who deserves an education,” Delorme says.

The rally continued this afternoon with a presentation from former Federation of Saskatchewan Indian Nations chief Perry Bellegarde.
