The First Nations University of Canada is hosting its 29th Annual Pow Wow this weekend at Regina’s Brandt Centre.

The theme of this year’s event is “Honoring Our Students Past and Present.”

The FNUC says the pow wow has become one of Saskatchewan’s biggest annual cultural celebrations, attracting roughly 6,000 visitors to Regina from across Canada and the United States.

Organizers say the event is held to celebrate cultural diversity, unify families and communities, and to demonstrate Aboriginal traditions through a wide variety of song and dance styles.

Grand entries are scheduled to take place at noon and 7 p.m. on both Saturday and Sunday.

All students, staff, and faculty at the FNUC have been asked to join in on the last grand entry.

This year’s event will also feature the 1st Annual FNUC Pow Wow Princess Pageant.
