A recent referendum on whether or not to free up T.L.E. dollars at the Flying Dust First Nation has failed to garner the necessary support.

On December 4th, 211 residents on the reserve cast ballots, about whether the band should put $6 million of treaty land entitlement money into a new health centre and administration complex.

According to a councilor with the band, 195 residents voted yes. However, the results can’t be accepted, because the band needed to have 230 votes to make it official.

Councilor Darwin Durocher says the band may try again in the future.
