Flin Flon Man Arrested After Standoff With Police

A 55-year-old Flin Flon man has been arrested after a 17-hour standoff with police.

Authorities say it was around 8 p.m. Wednesday that RCMP officers were called to a local residence, where a man had allegedly stabbed a woman.

Two women escaped from the home, while the man barricaded himself in.

Sgt. Nolan Suss says it was at that point that the RCMP called in professional negotiators to deal with the situation.

The negotiators worked with the man for several hours before he was finally convinced to leave the residence, Suss says.

He says charges against the man are pending.

A 47-year-old woman is being treated for non-life-threatening injuries.
