A Green Lake man reports progress is being made in his attempt to have a local First Nation there reinstated.

Rodney Laliberte is one of about 30 people who recently attended a meeting for the Kenemotay First Nation.

Laliberte claims the band used to exist in the Green Lake area, and fell apart after Ottawa convinced several of its members to apply for land scrip.

Laliberte says four headmen and an interim chief — himself — have been selected to lead up the band, and their next step is to advise Ottawa.

Laliberte says he is receiving some legal advice to help him advise the federal government.

Ultimately he’d like to see the band get full reinstatement.
