Five Candidates In Running For Chief Of Canoe Lake

An election for chief and council is taking place today on the Canoe Lake Cree Nation.

 

A total of 30 people have tossed their hats in the ring for seven positions.

 

Incumbent Chief Guy Lariviere is attempting to hold onto his job against four challengers.

 

They include Delores Blackmon, Peter Laliberte, Bernice Iron and Margaret Coulineur.

 

Meantime, twenty-five others are competing for six council seats.

 

All of the winners will serve two-year terms in office.
