A large-scale search is underway near Turnor Lake for a missing fisherman.

56-year-old resident Norm Montgrand went fishing on nearby Bear Lake early yesterday, but didn’t return to the community by 10:00 a.m. as previously agreed.

A search was started a few hours later.

Eventually, searchers discovered Montgrand’s capsized boat.

Local resident Ivan Morin is appealing for help from the surrounding communities, since many of Turnor Lake’s searchers are exhausted after looking all night.

Morin is hoping other communities on the West Side will lend boats and volunteers for the search effort.

Bear Lake is located approximately 7 kilometres south of Turnor Lake.
