First Night For New La Ronge Curfew

The new curfew for youth aged 17 and under in La Ronge takes effect this evening.

RCMP spokesman Sergeant Ron Link says any youth spotted outside after 11 pm will be taken home with a warning the first couple of times.

If the youth is out on the street after that, Link says the parents will be given a fine — $50 for the first offence and $100 for any subsequent offence.

The only time children will be allowed on the street is in the company of a parent.

Local social services agencies will step in any time police can’t find a child’s parent or guardian.
