First Nations-Owned Hotel Wins Award

The Gold Eagle Lodge won the New Business Venture award during the Battlefords Business Excellence Awards on Tuesday.

Little Pine First Nation Chief Patrick Bonaise of the Battlefords Tribal Council and Gold Eagle Lodge General Manager Steve Johnston accepted the award.

Bonaise stressed how pleased he was to see First Nations and non-First Nations work together.

He said it was a great feeling to “be able to combine and build a nation together”.

He thanked the lodge’s staff — calling them “extraordinary” — and also credited the BTC’s Randy Wallace for making the lodge the success it is.
