Golden Band Resources is one step closer to getting a gold mine operating in the La Ronge gold belt.

The firm has received an environmental green light to begin work on the 12 gold deposits it owns in the region, and it is hoping it can begin work by the end of the year.

Company president Rodney Orr says his group can now apply for construction and operational permits and licences in the area.

Once the permits are in place, Orr says they will look to hire people from La Ronge and the Lac La Ronge Indian Band.

The group has been doing exploration in the La Ronge gold belt since 1993, and owns 750 square kilometres of land running from north of Missinipe to almost as far as Brabant Lake.

Golden Band Resources also owns the Jolu Mill, which is located close to its deposits.
