Water bombers have been called in from the Northwest Territories to help battle flames in Prince Albert National Park.

At least 15 fires erupted this week, after lightning sparked several blazes.

According to Parks Canada, 50 personnel are battling the fires, while 20 more workers are expected to arrive today from British Columbia

The fires are mostly burning in the northern part of the park, prompting closures to campgrounds at Sandy Beach, Northend and Bladebone Bay.

The fire burning near Grey Owl’s cabin is now under control, and the park is open to visitors.
