Saskatchewan Environment is urging emergency firefighters in the North to be patient as they wait for their paycheques.

The department has been getting several complaints from firefighters, wondering when they are going to get paid for working during the recent flare-up of forest fires.

Spokesman Tom Laxdal says they’ve hired a huge number of emergency firefighters in the last three weeks.

Laxdal says firefighters should be getting their pay roughly 10 days after coming off the fire line.

He says if that doesn’t happen within the 10-day timeframe, firefighters can call (306) 953-2888 to track the progress of their paycheque.
