The president of Saskatchewan Cooperative Fisheries says a financial plan to build a fish processing plant in Prince Albert is almost complete.

John Carriere says organizers with the project have attracted commitments from various parties and are just 800-thousand dollars away from being able to start construction.

Carriere says he and others are hoping to hear word from the provincial government in the next few days about whether or not the province is on board, as well.

Carriere adds organizers are also due to meet with Indian Affairs officials in the coming days.

The entire project is expected to cost roughly four million dollars.
