A plan that would have allowed commercial fishers in northern Saskatchewan to market their catch outside the province has been shot down by the Freshwater Fish Marketing Corporation.

The decision came down after their provincial co-operative submitted its business case to the corporation in August.

Northern Affairs spokesman Scott Boyes says the provincial government is disappointed with the decision.

Boyes says the province believes the fishers have a good plan, and the government plans to continue supporting their efforts.

FFMC president John Wood is refusing to comment on the situation, or the letter that was sent out to the fishers.
