The mayor of Cumberland House says it should be a few more days until raging floodwaters peak in his community.

Dale McAuley says researchers with the Saskatchewan Watershed Authority tell him water levels will be at their highest between July 1st and 4th.

Approximately 150 residents remain inside Cumberland House helping construct berms and trenches around low-lying buildings.

However, McAuley says it’s going to take a lot to keep all the buildings safe from flood damage.

McAuley says the road to the community is closed right now to all but emergency vehicles.

He says, fortunately, no homes have been touched yet by water.
