Two Saskatchewan First Nations are getting some money from Ottawa to help with school repairs.
The Peter Ballantyne Cree Nation has been given $220,000 to help finance planning for a future expansion to the high school in Pelican Narrows.
Meanwhile, a school on the James Smith Cree Nation has been awarded a $500,000 grant to pay for repairs to its computer lab. The repairs were needed after a sprinkler system went off and froze most of the equipment.
Indian Affairs spokesman Trevor Sutter says the funding is part of the federal government’s $50-million school infrastructure initiative.
Sutter says most of the repairs have been completed already.
