Federal Housing Funding Brought To Forefront

Social Services Minister Donna Harpauer says a lot of questions are being asked about federal funding levels for housing.
Harpauer recently attended a ministers’ meeting on the issue in British Columbia, where she says key questions were asked of Ottawa — including the issue of whether the federal government has a plan to address housing needs both on-reserve and off-reserve.
She also says there were queries about whether taxation levels will be adjusted to encourage construction of rental accommodations.
Harpauer notes much of western Canada is experiencing a crunch when it comes to affordable rental housing.
Provincial ministers hope to sit down with federal Housing Minister Monte Solberg soon.
