A suspected meteor that lit up the skies across the Prairies around 6:30 last night was observed by several residents of northern Saskatchewan.

Rod Merasty was on a plane heading to Wollaston Lake from La Ronge when he saw it.

Merasty describes it as a “real bright . . . blue thing” in the sky that turned into a “real red ball of fire” before it hit the ground.

The 70-year-old Merasty says he has never witnessed anything like it in his lifetime.

Eyewitness reports are also coming out of Black Lake, Ile-a-la-Crosse and Dillon

It’s still not clear where the suspected meteor landed.
