Efforts are being made to establish two headstones for Metis warriors who died during the Battle of Batoche.

Ron Jobin is the grandnephew of Ambroise Jobin, one of the men who fell to army bullets.

In an interview with MBC today, he says he and others are hoping to raise $4,000 to pay for the markers.

Jobin says he began working on the project a year ago.

He says he worries if no markers are created, people will gradually forget where the two men are buried.

He is taking donations from all sources.

The other soldier who fell, Joseph Ouelette, was 93 years old when he died at the battle.
