Troubling news out of Ottawa concerning some of the country’s aboriginal reserves.

Defence department documents obtained by The Canadian Press under Access to Information warn there could be dangerous explosives scattered on more than two dozen reserves.

The explosives range from Second World War bombs to anti-tank mortars and torpedoes.

The 731 so-called legacy sites are located on 25 reserves.

The lands were once leased from aboriginal groups by the government to carry out military training, but many of the explosives were not cleaned up.
