The Bessborough Hotel in Saskatoon is the site of a major conference this weekend designed to examine the state of Indigenous art in the province.

Curators, art collectors, critics, scholars and artists from around the world are on hand to discuss Aboriginal art and where it’s headed.

They will share ideas and talk about the future of painting, drama, beadwork, music and other forms of art.

Organizer Jason Barrick says it’s important for events like this to happen.

He also notes this is the first time this particular event has taken place in Saskatchewan.

The conference runs until Saturday.
