Evacuees Slowly Trickling Back Home

Dozens of Cumberland House residents continue to depart Prince Albert today encouraged by news that raging floodwaters are not as high as initially forecast.
However, at this stage, it appears that they are in the minority.
Most of the residents who left the community last week remain at SIAST’s Woodland Campus in Prince Albert.
Band member Trainey Thomas says the uncertainty of the situation is keeping him and his family in the city — at least for now.
Thomas also notes that the state of emergency in his community has yet to be lifted.
The latest flood forecast indicates that water levels will fall short of the dikes protecting the community.
So far, homes and buildings have remained dry.
At last word, just under 200 people had elected to return home.
