The Canadian Parks and Wilderness Society wants to get the public involved in protecting the Churchill River system from industrial development.

Spokesman Alan Appleby says his group is worried about what proposed logging and mining activity in the region will do to the environment.

Appleby says there’s no guarantee that the ongoing land use planning process will protect the region from the timber harvesting that’s being planned.

Appleby is encouraging the public to write letters to the provincial government, asking the province to leave the area untouched by logging.
