The Canadian Parks and Wilderness Society says it isn’t happy the provincial government is refusing to share information over a land use plan in northern Saskatchewan.

CPAWS spokesman Alan Appleby says they have been trying for some time now to see the third draft of the North Central Land Use Plan.

It covers 3.2 million hectares of forest stretching from La Ronge to Key Lake. Work on the document was first introduced in 2001.

Appleby says his group is concerned the government is going to give industrial groups a huge amount of access to the land — which was the indication in the first two drafts of the plan.

The society says it wants to see the wording of the third draft soon so it can launch an independent review of its own.
