Saskatchewan Environment minister David Forbes begins a week-long tour of northern Saskatchewan today.

Forbes will be visiting several communities directly affected by the province’s cuts to Saskatchewan Environment and the reconfiguration of the province’s forest fire program.

This will be Forbes’ first official visit to these communities since the province announced its controversial budget cuts.

However, department spokesman Alan Parkinson says Forbes will not be holding any public meetings during this trip.

Some of the groups Forbes will be meeting with include the Saskatchewan Outfitters Association and the Saskatchewan Commercial Fishers Co-operative.

His tour begins today in Stony Rapids and will eventually take him to La Ronge, Deschambault Lake, La Loche, Meadow Lake and Cumberland House.
