English River Band Members Head To The Polls

Five people are running for chief in the English River First Nation’s band election today.
Incumbent Tobie Aubichon is up against challengers Etienne Black, Russel Black, Archie Campbell and Lawrence McIntrye.
English River election rules allow for chief candidates to also run for council, and that’s exactly what Etienne Black is doing.
If he wins both elections, the incumbent councillor will have to give up his seat on council to serve as chief.
A total of 24 people are seeking a spot on the band council — including the other five incumbents.
