Embattled Band Councillor Denied Bail

A band councillor with the Clearwater River Dene Nation is remaining behind bars until his trial on March 2nd.

Gerald Hainault was denied bail at a court hearing late last week and remanded until his upcoming trial in March.

Hainault is accused of driving while under the influence of alcohol, and causing and fleeing an accident on December 29th.

Band officials had previously indicated Hainault will keep his job, unless he is convicted of the charges.
